The main function of Licensing Board is to issue Certificate of Competency. It include conduct of examination for wireman/supervisor, to issue exemption from the examination of wireman/supervisor, to issue electrical contractor license.

A person
A. Who has worked on wiring and electrical installation works under direct supervision of a competency certificate holder or a qualified electrical engineer for a total period of one year.
B. Who has gained six months practical experience after completion of the wireman apprentice course at any recognized technical institute and also passed by the examination held by the Technical Examination Board(TEB).
C. Who has completed one year’s course of electrician or radio mechanic or wireman motor rewinding conducted by the director of cottage industries.
D. Who has completed one year’s course of electrician conducted by the prototype development and training center at Rajkot.
E. Who has completed six months course of motor winding conducted by TEB.

A person who
A. Have passed the examination of the wireman &
B. have total four years of practical experience under direct supervision of a competency certificate holder or qualified electrical engineer out of which minimum two years’ experience must be gained after passing the wireman examination. or
three and half years practical experience, if such candidate has completed electrician course at recognized technical institute and has passed the examination held by TEB, out of which minimum one and half year’s practical experience must be after passing wireman examination.

The supervisor / wireman exam is conducted by the licensing board twice in a year, one in the month of May and second in the month of November. For the examination in May, forms are received by this office in the month of February and for the examination in the month of November, the forms are received by this office in the month of August.

Any person who has electrical supervisor permit or a person who has employed such person can get electrical contractor license. The document required for the same are (1) application in prescribe form (2) Original Challan of Rs. 5000/- (3)Bank solvency of Ten thousand (4) three Testing instruments namely megger, earth tester, clip on meter, along with purchase bill and a certificate from concerned AEI office. (5) a copy of partnership deed or memorandum and article of association. (6) address proof of the forms (7) school leaving certificate of owner and supervisor.
